Defying Stereotypes: The Way forward

Stereotypes are groups of attitudes which have little or no basis in reality and yet persist in cultures. Stereotyping reduces the individuality and character of people to false social constructs. Developing Inclusive Education

Inclusive Education is used in many ways. For the Disabled People’s Movement it means all children and young people receiving their education together in the same school or college with the support provided and teaching and learning varied so that all can make social and academic progress to meet their potential.

Here are some views about inclusive education recently gathered by the Alliance for Inclusive Education in their campaign- We Know Inclusion Works.

Disability and Social Change

"Combining critical policy analysis with biographical accounts, this book provides a socio-historical account of the changing treatment of disabled people in Britain from the 1940s to the present day. It asks whether life has really changed for disabled people and shows the value of using biographical methods in new and critical ways to examine social and historical change over time."
